Village Elder
I’ve always been knowledge junky. From my days on my Atari 800XL to my first
login to a Solaris box, router config, perl script, etc. I have been swimming
in important nuggets of information that I needed to be able to retain. I tried writing down notes but they were
never there when I needed them.
10 years ago I had the realization that these notes needed to be
someplace I could reach the from anywhere on the planet: the web. I created a website and started recording my
own personal tech notes for all kinds of things. From samba file sharing tips to Bourne shell
script examples to windows bat file tips.
I selfishly collected them all under password protection like a miser.
Selfishly the site was reserved for my own personal reference only.
In the last few years I have passed selected tech notes to
friends, coworkers, and strangers on the bus.
I’ve finally decided it’s time to share.
This site is intended to be the final resting place for the best of my
personal info nuggets. I work in network
and system security so many of the articles have a security bent. Most will have a humorous bent which I intend
as a pneumonic device to remember tricky stuff.
I hope you enjoy the blog, and if you don’t perhaps you know someone who
might J
